Expertise and ability
Clients that have benefited from our design and installation expertise include many leading corporate, educational and government owned establishments, three of which are detailed below.

Navman
Navman is a leading manufacturer of world-class marine electronics and Global Positioning System (GPS) technology and provides a diverse range of navigation technologies across a wide range of applications.

When the company decided to develop and extend its site to bring its 450 Auckland staff together under one roof and expand its R&D facility it turned to Caldwell & Levesque to meet its specific electrical requirements. This project, with a contract value of $700,000, included power supply works and mains cabling, a new main switchboard and a full electrical distribution system. As well as this Caldwell & Levesque also fitted specialized lighting and emergency lighting. As much of the cabling infrastructure was surface mounted, cable tray was used not only to reticulate power but also to support lighting and give a ‘high-tech’ appearance commensurate with Navman’s operations.

Navman’s new Northcote premises are more than double the previous size and were opened by the Prime Minister in March 2005.

Māori Television
In order to achieve its stated objective of playing a major role in the revitalisation of te reo Māori (Māori language) and culture, Māori Television required a state-of-the-art office and broadcasting facility. TV broadcast requires specialized lighting and power equipment that will still function in the event of failure of the main electrical supply. For this ‘design-build’ project Caldwell & Levesque supplied an emergency power generator and installed it on the roof of the station in Newmarket, Auckland. In conjunction with this emergency power supply it also designed and installed dedicated lighting and power circuits fed from an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to ensure continuous operation of the station’s electrical systems at all times.

This project, with a contract price of $800,000, also included lighting and emergency lighting as well as a complete electrical reticulation system including the main switchboard and sub-distribution system to all final circuits and equipment. Some of these areas were designed with dual purpose circuits to allow areas to be used for different purposes at the flick of a switch.

Māori Television- Mā rātou, mā mātou, mā koutou, mā tātou (For them, for us, for you, for everyone).

Auckland University - Student Amenities
New Zealand's largest university, The University of Auckland, has over 40,000 students and is recognised as a leading international learning centre. With more than 5,500 international students from 85 different countries the university needed to extend to accommodate these ever rising numbers. The resulting new Student Amenities Block, on Auckland’s Symonds Street, is a multi-storey complex containing shops, banks, offices and cafes as well as extensive student computer suites. This entire infrastructure requires an equally complex electrical and data system. Caldwell & Levesque’s electrical division, in conjunction with its data cabling division, Data-Tech provided these systems.

With an electrical contract value of $1.7 million the Student Amenities Block contains several kilometers of electrical and data cabling, which was installed over a period of fourteen months. The electrical cabling originates at a specially installed on-site high voltage (HV) transformer via a 1600 amp main switchboard to over 30 local distribution boards servicing the separate areas within the complex.

The project included all interior and exterior power and lighting, which ensures that it stands out as an educational icon at night time.
